For an overlay, we install the resin-bound system over a stable existing concrete or asphalt base that’s in good condition. For a full replacement, we excavate, install new stone sub-base and binder course, then install the resin-bound surface. Base stability and drainage determine the approach.
-
Installation time depends on size and preparation: a 600 sq ft project often takes one day, 1,200 sq ft about two days, and 2,000 sq ft up to three days including base preparation and curing.
-
Resin-bound surfaces are flexible and resist cracking when installed on a stable base. However, if the base moves or cracks due to ground movement or poor preparation, those movements can telegraph through. Proper base preparation and drainage minimize cracking.
-
Item deResin-bound surfaces are fully permeable, allowing rainwater to drain through the aggregate and resin into the sub-base below. A properly prepared sub-base includes free-draining stone and may integrate pipes or soakaways to manage runoff. The surface should be laid to fall gently away from buildings so water flows naturally. If your base or site has poor drainage, we may recommend installing French drains or additional soakaways before applying the resin-bound finish to ensure long-term performance.scription

Item deOnce fully cured, resin-bound surfaces tolerate winter conditions well. Remove snow with a plastic-bladed shovel or a broom—avoid metal edges that could scratch the surface. For ice, use non-corrosive de-icers like calcium magnesium acetate or coarse grit. Avoid rock salt or harsh chemicals, which can damage the resin and aggregate. After winter, rinse off any de-icing products to preserve the surface's appearance.scription

Item deYes. Resin-bound driveways are suitable for cars and light trucks when installed over an adequate sub-base. We specify the depth of the stone and binder course to support the expected load. For heavier vehicles—commercial trucks, RVs or constant turning—we may increase base thickness and resin content or recommend a reinforced asphalt base. Proper base design prevents rutting and ensures longevity.scription

Item deWith proper base prep and installation, resin-bound surfaces typically last 15–25 years. They require minimal upkeep: sweep or blow leaves and debris regularly, power wash occasionally with a gentle spray to remove dirt, and treat any moss or algae with a mild biocide. Avoid using harsh solvents or petroleum-based products. Periodic resealing after several years can restore the surface’s luster. Promptly clean oil or chemical spills to prevent staining.scription
